Elder Ephraim:When you have a trouble, a temptation, a spiritual, an economical annoyance or…

When you have a trouble, a temptation, a spiritual, an economical annoyance or a bodily one, whether it is an illness or a temptation or any other evil, kneel and pray that God’s will to be done and not yours. God, Who has permitted the temptation, also gives to the man the means to overcome it.
No matter what temptation we might fall in, unless we kneel, unless we rise up our hands and weep, the temptation is not removed…we take help from Christ only in prayer. If we are careless and sluggish in facing temptations, they harden, they become more menacing, and the sin becomes more dangerous.

The prayers that we ardently and willingly do, with pain and tears, will be heard. It is impossible for God to let perish the man of repentance and prayer; it is impossible. What Christ wants from us is to understand our sinfulness, to have self-knowledge, to ask for forgiveness and to love sincerely. It is this love that God requires from the man, because otherwise we love the devil and go to hell. God will not despise the humble prayer in the spirit of the truth, but will take care to reward it.
When the prayer is humble and it is accompanied by deeds of love and mercy, God will hear and will answer.
We have to pass through useful temptations so as to save ourselves, but let’s pray to God not to leave us pass through those which are useless and dangerous.
